The official trailer for Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie has been released online, and it’s drawing comparisons to Captain America: The Winter Soldier rather than Secret Invasion. This trailer follows a teaser that leaked online after Thunderbolts’ D23 Expo 2024. The nearly three-and-a-half-minute long teaser is action-packed, featuring both returning and new characters, along with political and paranoid thriller elements. The final Marvel Phase 5 film is generating a lot of excitement among MCU fans.
In the upcoming Thunderbolts’ official teaser, we see Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova visiting her estranged father, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, played by David Harbour. Yelena expresses her emotional struggles, having lost her sister Natasha Romanov/Black Widow and grappling with her decision not to kill Clint Barton in Hawkeye. Similarly, John Walker from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is portrayed as mentally troubled after his tarnished reputation in the Disney Plus series. Furthermore, James ‘Bucky’ Barnes is depicted as disillusioned as he enters a courtroom.
The teaser hints at a covert mission involving Red Guardian, Yelena, John Walker, Bucky Barnes, and other minor villains like Ghost and Taskmaster. They are manipulated by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, to track down a mysterious character named Bob. Lewis Pullman will portray Bob, and his superpowered Sentry alter-ego is expected to play a significant role in the plot.
The upcoming movie Thunderbolts features morally complex characters who will have to team up at some point, creating an anti-hero squad led by Belova.
