Matthew Rhys and Claire Danes Star in Netflix’s Highly Anticipated ‘The Beast In Me’

Emmy Award-winning actor Matthew Rhys, known for his roles in “The Americans” and “Perry Mason,” has been confirmed to star in Netflix’s upcoming mystery thriller series “The Beast in Me.” This project, created, written, and executive-produced by Gabe Rotter, has also enlisted the talents of the previously announced Claire Danes, who not only stars in the series but also serves as an executive producer.

“The Beast in Me” follows the story of Aggie Wiggs, played by Claire Danes, an acclaimed author who has withdrawn from public life and struggles to write after the tragic loss of her young son. However, a new opportunity arises when Nile Sheldon, portrayed by Matthew Rhys, a renowned real estate mogul previously suspected in his wife’s disappearance, moves in next door. Aggie becomes both horrified and captivated by Nile as she embarks on a relentless quest for truth, confronting his inner turmoil while grappling with her own in a potentially lethal cat-and-mouse game.

In addition to Gabe Rotter and Claire Danes, the limited series boasts an executive production team comprising showrunner Howard Gordon (“Homeland,” “24,” “The X-Files”), director Antonio Campos, writer Daniel Pearle (“American Crime Story”), Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, David Kissinger for Conaco, as well as Jodie Foster and Caroline Baron. The studio behind the series is 20th Television.

Matthew Rhys, a gifted actor with five Emmy nominations, clinched his first Emmy win in 2018 for his outstanding portrayal of KGB Agent Philip Jennings in “The Americans.” His most recent Emmy nod in 2021 was for his role as the titular character in HBO’s “Perry Mason.” Rhys is set to portray the legendary comedian George Carlin in the upcoming Jason Reitman feature “Saturday Night.” He is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, and United Agents.
