Law&Crime, a leading legal and true crime network, has just launched its latest original premium documentary, “Jailbreak: Love on the Run,” which has quickly become the most-watched movie on Netflix in the U.S. and U.K. The documentary chronicles the astonishing and heart-wrenching tale of Vicky White, a respected correctional officer who decides to abandon her approaching retirement to escape with 38-year-old Casey White, a convicted murderer serving a 75-year prison sentence for a series of violent crimes, including home invasion, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
The illicit affair between Vicky and Casey White, which began when she met him behind bars, leads to their unauthorized escape from prison and an ensuing 11-day fatal manhunt. The documentary has received acclaim for its portrayal of a seemingly upstanding woman who sacrifices everything, including her own freedom and safety, for a real-life romance novel. Additionally, it sheds light on the impact of their inexplicable choice on the close-knit community in Alabama. The film offers an intimate look at the unlikely relationship through over 1,000 exclusive jailhouse calls and handwritten letters exchanged between Casey and Vicky White.
The documentary “Jailbreak: Love on the Run” premiered on September 25. It was executive produced by Dan Abrams, the founder of Law&Crime, along with Melody Shafir, Rachel Stockman, Lana Wilson, and Angie Dorr.
