The production company overseeing the Harry Potter series adaptation has initiated an open casting call for the roles of Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Hermione Granger. They are seeking children aged 9 to 11 from the U.K. and Ireland to submit short self-tapes, featuring the reading of a poem or short story unrelated to the Harry Potter book franchise. The casting process prioritizes inclusive and diverse representation and encourages participants to showcase their individuality, emphasizing a commitment to non-discriminatory casting.
The upcoming series, under the stewardship of showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer J.K. Rowling, promises a faithful adaptation of the beloved book series. Despite controversy surrounding the author, the network remains steadfast in their focus on bringing the positive and affirmative messages of the Harry Potter story to the screen. The series is slated to span seven seasons, with each season adapting one book from the franchise and aiming for a 2026 release. Mark Mylod will also serve as an executive producer and direct multiple episodes.
It’s worth highlighting that the original Harry Potter film adaptations featured a star-studded cast including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and various esteemed actors, which contributed to the immense success of the franchise.
