Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a man of many talents. From being a professional wrestler to an actor, director, and father, he has done it all. In 2016, he was even named “Sexiest Man Alive.” Apart from his accomplishments, Johnson is also a self-confessed fanny pack enthusiast. But that’s not all – he’s now joining the ranks of celebrity skincare brands with his new line, Papatui.
Papatui is Johnson’s first-ever men’s personal care brand, and it offers a range of products that includes skin, hair, body, and tattoo care. The brand emphasizes the use of cleaner ingredients and puts a strong focus on performance. And the best part? Every product is priced under $10, making it an affordable option for men who want to take care of their skin and hair.
According to Johnson, Papatui was born out of conversations with his peers at the gym. It is set to launch in Target stores and on Target.com on March 10, and is already available on the brand’s website. With Papatui, Johnson aims to make personal care products accessible to all men, irrespective of their budget.

The statement points towards a particular instance where a person felt the need to open up about their skincare routine but found it difficult to do so. They express their frustration towards the stigma associated with discussing skincare and grooming practices openly, and how this can create a barrier for people who want to explore and learn more about the subject. The person then goes on to mention how their experience with Papatui – a resource for skincare and grooming advice – has helped them overcome this barrier and initiate more open conversations about the topic. In summary, the statement highlights the importance of breaking down societal norms and encouraging more open communication about skincare and grooming practices.

Papatui’s Name and Foundation Are Rooted in Fatherhood
Creating a brand can be a thrilling experience, and one of the most exciting parts is coming up with a name. In my case, there were countless iterations of the name before I found the perfect one. I vividly remember telling my team that I was planning to take my daughters back to Hawaii. I wanted to immerse myself in the “aloha spirit” that I always talk about, hoping that something creative would come to me. And it did!
Being half Black and half Samoan, I draw inspiration from both sides of my heritage. On my Samoan side, my grandfather was the first man who made a significant impact on me in terms of his appearance. He was always well-groomed, smelled amazing, and had beautiful skin. He was a big tough guy, a professional wrestler, and my biggest influence as a kid. His nickname for me was “Tui,” and I thought, “Okay, let’s start there. There’s something interesting there.”
On the Papa side, I am a proud father of three daughters. I have a house full of estrogen, and my favorite role is being a dad. As I started to brainstorm more ideas, I realized that everything was coming together in a kismet way. “Papa” in Samoan means “rock,” which is a perfect representation of the brand I wanted to create.
So, after many iterations and a lot of inspiration from my heritage, I finally settled on the name “Terra Tui Papa.” It’s a name that represents strength, resilience, and a deep connection to my roots. And I couldn’t be more excited to see where this brand takes me.
Women Can Use These Products Too
The product in question was initially created with the male demographic in mind. However, it is worth noting that every item in the product line is unisex, which means that anyone can use it regardless of gender. In fact, the wife of the product’s creator, Lauren Hashian, is a fan of the product and uses it regularly.
Emily Blunt Turned Him on to Toners
During a conversation with one of his best friends, Emily Blunt, this person discovered the benefits of toners for skincare. They were discussing their morning and bedtime routines when Emily asked what toner he uses. He replied that he didn’t use toner, to which she seemed surprised. She then promised to send him some toners that would change his life, and he agreed to try them.
After trying them out, he was amazed by the results. He realized that toners were a secret weapon in achieving an even complexion and tightened pores. Toners balance the pH of your skin, and this has become an essential step in his skincare routine. He appreciates feedback from Emily, family, and friends, as it has been so helpful in achieving his skincare goals.
The Luxe Scent Profile Behind the Line Has Nods to Le Labo’s Santal 33 (IYKYK)
The creators behind Papatui, a luxury fragrance brand, were determined to craft a line of scents that could compete with the best in the world. The team worked with the renowned fragrance house, Firmenich, and enlisted the expertise of the esteemed perfume maker, Frank Voelkl, to achieve their goal.
The Papatui collection features three distinct scents, each carefully crafted to evoke a unique sensory experience. The first is Coconut Lush, which transports the wearer to the idyllic islands of Hawaii with its sweet, tropical aroma. The second, Sandalwood Suede, boasts a warm and woody scent that is both sensual and sophisticated. Lastly, Cedar Sport offers a fresh and invigorating fragrance that is perfect for those who lead an active lifestyle.
Interestingly, when the team first began brainstorming scent ideas, one member of the group mentioned their favorite cologne – Santal 33. It just so happened that the man they had enlisted to collaborate with them on Papatui had created that exact fragrance. This coincidence only added to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the launch of Papatui’s signature line of scents.
The Soap Packaging Has a Built-In Scent Tester
Before I achieved fame for wearing a fanny pack, I used to frequent drug stores and spend a significant amount of time in their grooming sections. I would meticulously inspect and open up every bar of soap and every deodorant because I am someone who values fragrances and smells very highly. However, my behavior was not appreciated by the store staff and I was often kicked out of these drug stores.
But this experience got me thinking – how can I make it easier for people who want to know what our scents smell like? And that’s when I came up with the idea of placing a small hole in the packaging of every bar of soap. This way, customers can easily smell the product and make an informed decision about whether they like the fragrance or not. It was a small but significant change that made a big difference in the shopping experience of our customers.
The Papatui Tattoo Balm Won’t Stick to Your Clothes
Throughout my life, I have been searching for a tattoo product that could protect and moisturize my tattoos while also providing a glossy finish when I went out. Unfortunately, I never found a product that could fulfill all of these requirements. Therefore, we decided to go back to the basics and create our own solution using mango butter and cocoa butter to develop the perfect tattoo balm and stick. Each of my tattoos holds a special meaning to me and tells a unique story, which is why I wanted to include a product within Papatui’s lineup that would cater to our tattoo-loving customers. Our tattoo balm and stick will now enable them to take care of their tattoos and keep them looking vibrant and healthy for years to come.
