Robert Eggers’ ‘Nosferatu’ Trailer: Bill Skarsgård’s Haunting Transformation.

A new preview for the upcoming movie Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers, has been unveiled. This film is a modern version of the 1922 German movie with the same title. The gothic horror movie, helmed by Eggers, is set to hit theaters in the United States this December.

The horror movie, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, revolves around a dark love story between a troubled young woman and a frightening vampire who is captivated by her, leading to unimaginable terror in its aftermath, according to the synopsis.

Eggers is recognized for his work on The Witch (2015), The Lighthouse (2019), and The Northman (2022). Additionally, he wrote the screenplay for the new Nosferatu movie.

The original Nosferatu is a silent film that starred Max Schreck as Count Orlok. It is an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 Dracula film. Despite making several significant changes from the novel, Stoker’s relatives took legal action against the production company Prana Film for the unofficial adaptation. A court order mandated the destruction of all copies of Nosferatu; however, some copies survived, and the film is now considered a seminal classic in cinema.

In Eggers’ rendition of Nosferatu, Bill Skarsgård takes on the role of Count Orlok. The cast also features Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Friedrich Harding, Emma Corrin as Anna Harding, Willem Dafoe as Prof. Albin Eberhart Von Franz, Ralph Ineson as Dr. Wilhelm Sievers, and Simon McBurney as Herr Knock.

Notably, Dafoe portrayed Schreck in the 2000 film Shadow of the Vampire, directed by E. Elias Merhige, which depicted the making of the 1922 film. Dafoe received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.

Nosferatu is scheduled to be released in United States theaters on December 25, 2024, courtesy of Focus Features.
