Willem Dafoe and Robert Eggers discuss the collaboration on the ‘Nosferatu’ director.

EXCLUSIVE: Robert Eggers and The Lighthouse star Willem Dafoe have identified their next project to work on, with Dafoe in talks to join Eggers’ Nosferatu at Focus Features. Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard and Nicholas Hoult are already on board, with Eggers writing and directing. Produced by Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Eggers, Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus.

In a new twist, Nosferatu is a gothic tale of the mind between a haunted girl (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient vampire of Transylvania (Skarsgard) who searches for her, bringing his incredible music. Focus has not yet commented on the project. It is not yet known who Dafoe will play.

Not only does the project reunite Eggers with Dafoe, who worked together on The Lighthouse and The Northman, but the role is perfect timing for Dafoe who received an Oscar nomination playing the creature Nosferatu in Shadow of a Vampire.

Dafoe’s upcoming projects include Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Thing and Na by Lanthimos as well as Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City and The Man in the Basement. It also includes Inside by Vasilis Katsoupis and Dead for a Dollar by Walter Hill. His recent credits include The Northman, Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley and Spider-Man: No Way Home. He was replaced by Circle of Confusion and WME.
