Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for her genre-straddling discography and songwriting.

Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music as a storyteller inspired by Shania Twain.

One of Swift's earliest memories of music is listening to her grandmother Marjorie Finlay sing in church.

Swift said she owes her confidence to her mother, who helped her prepare for class presentations as a child. She also attributes her "fascination with writing and storytelling" to her mother.
