The upcoming animated show Batman: Caped Crusader continues to pique interest with each new revelation. This noir superhero series set in the 1940s boasts a stellar creative team including Bruce Timm, Matt Reeves, and J.J. Abrams. The latest update unveils the voice cast, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Hamish Linklater, known for his role in Midnight Mass, will voice Batman/Bruce Wayne, while the iconic actress Christina Ricci, recognized for her work in Wednesday and Yellowjackets, will lend her voice to Catwoman/Selina Kyle in Batman: Caped Crusader. The series is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video later this summer, and a video announcing the voice cast has also been released. You can view the announcement video here:
The upcoming show’s first season has announced additional cast members, including Jamie Chung, who will voice a new interpretation of Harley Quinn/Dr. Harleen Quinzel as a standalone character unrelated to the Joker. Her character will be in a romantic relationship with detective Rene Montoya. Additionally, Diedrich Bader will voice Gotham D.A. Harvey Dent, who will later become the villain Two-Face. It’s worth noting that Bader previously voiced Bruce Wayne in Batman: Brave and the Bold as well as other animated projects, making this a significant role reversal for him.
The following skilled voice actors have been cast in unspecified roles: Minnie Driver, John DiMaggio, McKenna Grace, Jason Watkins, Paul Scheer, Reid Scott, David Krumholtz, Haley Joel Osment, and Toby Stephens. Villains introduced for the first season include Clayface, the Gentlemen Ghost, Natalia Knight/Nocturna, and Onomotapia. Notably, characters such as Joker, Riddler, and Penguin have not been mentioned yet. The official series description for Batman: Caped Crusader from Prime Video is as follows: “Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the Batman. His one-man crusade attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.” Batman: Caped Crusader, consisting of 10 episodes, will be available on Prime Video on August 10, featuring talent such as Hamish Linklater and Christina Ricci.
