Taylor Swift Shines at the MTV VMAs, Katy Perry Takes Home Video Vanguard.

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards kicked off with Taylor Swift and Post Malone winning the first award for best collaboration. Katy Perry was honored with the Video Vanguard Award and performed a medley of her hits, joking about her performance being on the first day of her period. Additionally, she teased a new song in her acceptance speech. Sabrina Carpenter and Eminem also delivered captivating performances, with Megan Thee Stallion hosting the event for the first time.

The star-studded night saw impressive performances by Karol G, Blackpink’s LISA, Shawn Mendes, and Anitta, as well as appearances by various celebrities. Taylor Swift led the nominations with 12 nods and arrived at the event in a striking green ensemble. If she secures multiple wins, she could set a new record for the most awarded musician in VMA history.

The VMAs, held at the UBS Arena on New York’s Long Island, also featured flashbacks to historic moments from the past 40 years of the awards show. The event was simulcast on multiple networks and featured a diverse lineup of performers, including Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, and Camila Cabello.
