Amazon MGM Studios has announced that they have given a pilot order to “The Nightbeast,” a horror comedy series starring Tatiana Maslany. The show tells the story of a young mother who, feeling unsatisfied with her seemingly perfect suburban life, starts an affair with a surprising character – the Nightbeast, a “surprisingly sexy man” living in her son’s closet. What she initially perceives as a harmless affair soon begins to have unexpected consequences as her two worlds collide, leading to a series of seductive and darkly comedic events.
“The Nightbeast” is created by Leah Rachel and Travis Jackson and has a stellar line-up of executive producers, including Peter Warren, Justin Levy, Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Range Studios’ Station26, Kristen Campo for Campout, and Jamie Babbit, who also serves as the director. Additionally, Tatiana Maslany is not only starring in the series but also serving as a producer.
If “The Nightbeast” gets picked up, it is expected to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Tatiana Maslany, known for her outstanding work in the Canadian sci-fi series “Orphan Black,” where she portrayed multiple roles, is set to star in the series. “Orphan Black” had a successful five-season run from 2013 to 2017, with a spinoff titled “Orphan Black: Echoes” scheduled to premiere on June 24. Maslany also recently appeared as the title character in the 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.” Her other notable credits include “Heartland,” “Perry Mason,” “Destroyer,” and “The Other Half.”
Leah Rachel, best known for creating the horror series “Chambers,” which aired on Netflix for one season in 2019, is part of the creative team, with Travis Jackson, her partner, serving as a writer and co-producer on the series. “Chambers” starred Nicholas Galitzine, Tony Goldwyn, and Uma Thurman.
