In an interview with ETimes, Sanjay Dutt shares how he broke the language barrier in the film industry, but now only cinema is doing it. He said, “It’s an exciting time as an actor, as we get a variety of projects from all over the country. The good thing is that the language barrier is gone now. With shows like KGF and RRR, movies are just movies now. I am very happy with the type of play that is being written for me. It is the most enjoyable part of my job.

To take the conversation further, when Sanjay Dutt was asked to share his thoughts on playing a villain in a film, the actor said, “These roles are very different from each other. Scripts are written according to the report. Just because I play one way in one movie doesn’t mean I have to play it the same way in another. It’s my job as an actor to make every project different. Whether I am playing a hero or an anti-hero, I have to do justice to my character. After 40 years in the industry, I still long to do good work and interesting projects.

While concluding his discussion, Sanjay talked about the evolution of villains in Hindi cinema referring to Mogambo and Gabbar, he called them as popular characters in pop culture. He further added that although there are no villains in the recent film, the anti-heroes will return in bigger and better avatars.
