In a recent interview with Collider, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he had reached out to Nicolas Cage to reprise his role as Ghost Rider in the highly anticipated Marvel film “Deadpool & Wolverine”. The movie, which is expected to be one of the highest grossing of all time, is set to feature various cameo appearances from actors who have played iconic comic book characters, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, and Wesley Snipes as Blade.
Reynolds expressed his desire for Cage to join the star-studded cast of cameo appearances. When asked if he had been approached to play Ghost Rider again, Reynolds confirmed that he had, stating “Yes”, but also hinted that the nature of their conversation was more than a simple request.
When questioned about whether their discussion had led to any substantial progress, Reynolds replied, “It was definitely a conversation. Yeah, but no.” It’s worth noting that Nicolas Cage previously portrayed Johnny Blaze, also known as Ghost Rider, in the films “Ghost Rider” (2007) and “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” (2012), both of which were produced by Sony.
However, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is set to include cameo appearances from actors associated with Marvel movies previously produced by Fox, which is now part of Disney.
The movie list put together by Ryan Reynolds did not include Patrick Stewart, despite his portrayal of Charles Xavier in several X-Men films alongside Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Fans anticipated Stewart’s return, especially after his recent appearance in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. However, director Shawn Levy clarified on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that Stewart’s return was not even discussed. Emma Corrin also expressed a keen interest in the dynamic between Xavier and Cassandra, indicating an unexplored area for the character. On the other hand, actors who did return for the movie expressed their gratitude. Chris Evans, for instance, described playing Johnny Storm again as a dream come true. Additionally, Channing Tatum made a surprising cameo as Gambit in “Deadpool & Wolverine”, crediting Ryan Reynolds for making it happen. Now, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is being screened nationwide under Disney’s banner after its release in theaters.
