Sophie Kauer, renowned for her role as Cate Blanchett’s protege in Todd Field’s Tár, has joined the ensemble cast of All Five Eyes, the latest project from American director Jaclyn Bethany.
Filming for the movie is currently taking place in Kent, England, and it features Greta Bellamacina (Tell That To The Winter) and Honor Swinton Byrne (The Souvenir) in leading roles. Aimeé Kelly (Hijack) and Susanne Wuest (Goodnight Mommy) have also been added to the cast.
Bellamacina and Bethany collaborated on the script, marking their second project together after Tell That To The Winter Sea. This film had an exclusive release on Apple TV post a UK theatrical run and was distributed globally by Kaleidoscope.
All Five Eyes is categorized as a “female drama” and is set in a small English village in 1967. The film delves into the relationship between Cecily (Bellamacina) and Marion (Swinton Byrne) as they navigate their identities while caring for their disabled younger sister, Willa (Lawson). Cecily, who is principled and conscientious, manages the local girls’ finishing school, while Marion explores the implications of being a young woman embracing the new social freedoms of the late 1960s. Their differing perspectives on their relationship with Willa culminate in each sister making their own choices about what it means to lead a meaningful life.
Kauer and Kelly portray precocious schoolgirls and best friends named Helena and Juliette, while Wuest joins as Sister Marguerite, a nun who oversees the local convent.
All Five Eyes is a collaborative production between the UK and the US, involving Sulk Youth Films and BKE Productions in association with Valmora. Current producers on board include Grace Cavanagh-Butler, Carl Black, and C.C. Kellogg. The executive producers are Carl Black, C.C. Kellogg, Geoff Thompson at CSMD, Steven Adams, and Theo Dumont.
