According to a source, there is disappointment surrounding Prince Harry’s recent decision within the Sussexes’ partnership with Netflix. Following their departure as working royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex secured a lucrative deal with the streaming giant in 2020. Despite initially signing the deal as a couple, the Sussexes are now pursuing separate projects for Netflix.
Their first joint project, Harry & Meghan, was a resounding success, breaking multiple records on the streaming platform. However, it has been over a year and a half since its release in December 2022, and the couple has yet to produce another collaborative project for Netflix.
While Harry released Heart of the Invictus in 2023, it did not achieve the same level of success as their debut docuseries. Currently, the Duke of Sussex is working on a solo project for Netflix called Polo. However, there are concerns as a source revealed that Harry will not have a prominent role in the program. Instead, the focus will be on Harry’s close friend, polo player Nacho Figueras.
According to the Mail’s source: “Any reasonable person tuning into a show about polo made by Prince Harry would expect Harry to take a starring role. That he’s not is hugely disappointing for Netflix. Let’s face it, polo isn’t exactly a mainstream sport, so the attraction would have been watching Harry. Without him, it’s marginal at best. The Netflix deal expires next year, so the Sussexes need a big hit. This sounds like a big nothing burger.”
