Pamela Anderson gets real about how she sees herself.
During a recent interview on the “Armchair Expert” podcast with Dax Shepard, Anderson opened up about his position as a sex symbol, revealing that she never understood the discussion around her. “I’ve never felt like a big beauty, never, no. Just kind of funny,” Anderson, 55, said, adding that she’s not afraid of aging. “I can’t wait to see myself when I’m old. I always say I’ll see myself when I’m old in the mirror,” Anderson told Shepard about her plans to grow old. “I want to let my hair go gray, put on my little straw hat, don’t put on makeup. I mean, that’s my ideal state.”
She went on to say that while she thought of women who would be considered “old-fashioned beauties,” they ended up having a “difficult time with aging”—something she didn’t think she was doing pass away. “I don’t think it’s difficult and I don’t want to chase it, and I don’t want to do all the stupid things to myself,” she said.
“Now it’s my kids saying, ‘No, Mom, you have to wear makeup,'” Anderson explained. “When I was wearing makeup, everyone told me not to wear makeup. Now, I’m older and I want that to happen, and they’re like, ‘No, it’s not, you have a few months to promote these projects, and then you can take off your makeup.’ “
Anderson has two sons, Brandon and Dylan Lee, whom she shares with Tommy Lee. She was married to Tommy from 1995 to 1998. Anderson is currently promoting her Netflix documentary, “Pamela, A Love Story,” as well as her upcoming memoir, “Love, Pamela,” in which she recounts her life experiences, beginning as a child.
She walked the red carpet at the premiere of the documentary on Monday night, showing her character “Baywatch” Casey Jean Parker, dressed in a red dress, wearing a red bathing suit of her character wears in the movie.
Speaking about the magazine, the former “Playboy” model explained that she had “a little to do with it,” saying that it was her son’s job and that all she did was “open the door water, just as there is only one record of truth there.
“My son made this movie, Brandon, and I said to me, my only request is that you don’t tell me what you’re watching and what you’re doing, do it,” Anderson said. “I opened the door and said you have access to all the archives, all my journals from when I was a child, everything, and I said, do it. I mean I’m human, I’m human, I am not perfect.”
Anderson admitted during the podcast interview that she is still watching the documentary and has no plans. The only part she said she was interested in seeing was “what (her) children would say about (her)”, adding that she would probably only watch those videos.
She went on to say that she found it “easier to write about something than to talk about it”, which is why she chose to write her memoirs.
