Nicole Kidman and Esther McGregor’s Emotional Reunion at Film Premiere.

Nicole Kidman and Esther McGregor, daughter of Ewan McGregor, have recently worked together in the film “Babygirl.” This collaboration comes more than 23 years after Nicole Kidman starred opposite Ewan McGregor in “Moulin Rouge.” In “Babygirl,” Kidman and Esther play the roles of mother and daughter. The two actresses shared a heartwarming moment during a screening of the film at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City. Ewan McGregor had hinted at this collaboration earlier in the year during a panel discussion at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, expressing his pride in his daughter’s achievement.

In a recent interview in August, 22-year-old Esther shared insights about her role in the film “Babygirl.” She described her character as “grungy,” portraying the daughter of Nicole Kidman and Antonio Banderas’ characters. Esther mentioned that her personal experiences and family dynamics influenced her portrayal, noting that her interactions with her on-screen mother mirrored her real-life experiences with her father.

In 2017, Ewan and Esther’s mother, Eve Mavrakis, went through a split after photographs emerged of Ewan kissing his now-wife and former Fargo co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The divorce between Ewan and Eve was officially completed in August 2020.

Esther reflected on this difficult period, expressing how it was a pivotal time when she realized that her parents, like everyone else, are capable of making mistakes and decisions that may not align with the best interests of others. She shared her thoughts with Variety, saying, “For me, that was the age when you shift and realize your parents are humans and f— up and make mistakes and make decisions that might not be in the interest of others.”

With the passage of time, Esther, now 22, has gained a new perspective on the events that transpired when she was 16. This newfound clarity has allowed her to approach her own experiences with greater understanding and closure. Esther emphasized the significance of this personal growth, explaining how it influenced her portrayal of a character, noting, “Now I’m 22 and all that s— with my family went down when I was 16, so with my newfound closure and understanding of my own trajectory, I was able to find a new voice with this character, and I thought that was really special.”

Nicole Kidman stars in the movie “Babygirl” as a high-powered CEO who risks her career and family by engaging in a passionate affair with her much-younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson. The film also features Sophie Wilde and Antonio Banderas, who portrays Kidman’s character’s husband. Kidman revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that the role left her feeling emotionally drained and exposed as an actor and a woman. She described feeling both compelled and confronted by the role, expressing the need to reestablish her emotional boundaries after filming intense scenes. “Babygirl” premiered at the Venice Film Festival and is set to be released in theaters on December 25th.
