The new limited series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” has been released on Netflix, featuring actors Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch as the infamous brothers who shot their parents in 1989. The series also stars Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny as their parents. This marks the second edition of Ryan Murphy’s hit anthology series.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch were cast as the brothers in June 2023. Chavez is portraying Lyle, while Koch is playing younger brother Erik. Both actors are known for their previous roles in TV shows and movies.
The series also added Nathan Lane as investigative journalist Dominick Dunne and Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson, the defense attorney for Erik Menendez. Other supporting cast members include Leslie Grossman, Dallas Roberts, Jason Butler Harner, and Enrique Murciano.
“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” explores the brothers’ abuse allegations and their highly publicized trial. The series is part of Ryan Murphy’s anthology, with the first season focusing on Jeffrey Dahmer. The third season will center around notorious killer and grave robber Ed Gein.
The Menendez brothers were found guilty of their parents’ murders in 1996 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The case continues to receive attention due to new allegations of abuse against their father, José Menendez, and how they could affect the brothers’ incarceration.
In addition to “Monsters,” the Menendez family story has been depicted in other TV shows and movies such as “Menendez: Blood Brothers,” “Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders,” and “Truth and Lies: The Menendez Brothers — American Sons, American Murders.”
