Alan Ritchson known for his role in the TV series “Reacher,” has been cast as the lead in the upcoming action sci-fi film “War Machine,” which will be directed and written by Patrick Hughes. The script for the movie was developed by Lionsgate in collaboration with Hughes, who is best known for directing “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” films. Hughes co-wrote the script with James Beaufort, who worked on the movie “Machine.” The film has been acquired by Netflix as part of a deal with Lionsgate.
Lionsgate has recently announced that Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively will be reuniting for A Simple Favor 2. This film will be a streamer title with Amazon MGM Studios and is part of Lionsgate’s long term plan to include a direct-to-streaming business, along with theatricals and multiplatform titles such as Sisu and Retribution. A Simple Favor 2 is produced by Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman and Alex Young, Range Media Partners’ Rich Cook and Hughes’ Huge Film with Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) as the story writer.
