Marvel Reunites with Russo Brothers for Next Avengers Blockbusters!

Local directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who are originally from Cleveland, are currently in discussions to direct the upcoming two “Avengers” movies, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. This news comes after their successful direction of “Avengers: Infinity War” in 2018 and “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, both of which became some of the highest-grossing films in cinematic history.

The filmmaking duo also helmed “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in 2014 and “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016. Notably, the former was filmed in Cleveland.

As things stand now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is seeking stability as it embarks on its next phase. This follows underwhelming receptions for “The Marvels” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” along with the postponement of reboots like “The Fantastic Four” and “Blade.”

“The highly anticipated next installment in the Avengers film series is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Following this, a sequel is already on the schedule for May 2027, and it is currently being referred to as ‘Secret Wars,’ drawing inspiration from a beloved comic-book storyline from the 1980s.”
