Get Ready to Scream: ‘Scream 7’ Arriving February 2026!

Neve Campbell took to social media to announce that “Scream 7,” the latest installment in the iconic horror franchise, is set to finally hit theaters on February 27, 2026. The film’s release comes after a series of production delays, creative overhauls, and cast shakeups. Notably, Neve Campbell is returning to the series after sitting out the sixth installment due to a salary dispute. Kevin Williamson, the creator of the series, is also back on board as the director of the sequel. What’s more, “Scream 7” is enjoying a solo release date, with no other major films scheduled to premiere alongside it. The following weekend will see the release of “The Cat in the Hat” and Disney and Pixar’s “Hoppers,” both of which are geared towards family audiences.

The production of “Scream 7” has been surrounded by off-screen controversies and challenges since its initial announcement. Melissa Barrera, who had prominent roles in the previous two films, was dismissed from the sequel last year due to comments she made on social media regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict. Following this, Jenna Ortega, who co-starred with Barrera, had to withdraw from the film due to scheduling conflicts with her work on Netflix’s “Wednesday.” Furthermore, Christopher Landon, known for directing “Happy Death Day,” departed from the project in December 2023, describing it as a “dream job that turned into a nightmare.” He was later replaced by Williamson as the director. Production also faced delays due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

Paramount Pictures is set to distribute the film, with Spyglass Media overseeing production. After a period of hiatus following the release of “Scream 4” in 2011, the franchise experienced a successful revival with “Scream” in 2022 and “Scream VI” in 2023, both directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
