Esther Acebo, widely recognized for her portrayal of Stockholm in the popular Netflix series “Money Heist,” has recently committed to starring in Nestor Ruiz Medina’s upcoming film “In the End, Everything Will Be Fine” (“Al Finald Toda va a Estar Bien”). The film is touted as a contemporary societal critique akin to the style of Ruben Östlund and will feature five intertwining narratives delving into the “essence of the foolishness of humanity.”
Acebo’s acting portfolio includes her notable roles in “Money Heist,” Prime Video’s “Operación Marea Negra,” and “Antes de Perder” on Playz. She has also made appearances in feature films such as Ignacio Tatay’s “Jaula” and Joaquín Mazón’s “De Perdidos al Río.” Currently, she is involved in the filming of “La Increíble Historia de Julia Pastrana” for Disney+ and the feature “Normas para una Página de Sucesos” directed by José Ortuño.
Expressing her initial response to the script of “In the End, Everything Will Be Fine,” Acebo remarked, “A script so unsettling that I was unable to remain still upon my first reading; it’s truly unique and fresh. Undoubtedly, the film will evoke emotions, unsettle audiences, touch hearts, and provoke contemplation. It will elicit laughter and introspection. As an actress, I consider it a marvelous challenge to bring this story to life, and I’m eager to undertake it.”
Joining Acebo in the film’s cast are actors María Lázaro, known for her role in Medina’s directorial debut “21 Paraíso,” and Alex Sorian Brown, recognized for his work in “Hora y Veinte” and “Evan Wood.” Filming will span across various locations in Cádiz and Castilla la Mancha. Both Mono con Pistolas Films and Sorenfilms are onboard as producers for the project.
Medina, an accomplished filmmaker, has had his short films showcased at several prestigious international festivals, including Tribeca. His work has been nominated twice for Spanish Academy Goya Awards, in 2018 and 2022. His feature debut, “21 Paraíso,” premiered at Tallen Black Nights in Estonia and made its domestic debut at the Seville European Film Festival in 2022. The film was honored with a special mention from the jury and the Young Jury Award for Best Debut Film at the REC Festival in Tarragona.
Regarding “In the End, Everything Will be Fine,” the director stated, “The film is deeply rooted in reality, as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction. My objective with this project is to present a reflection of modern humanity, illuminating our idiosyncrasies and dependencies. As the narrative unfolds, this reflection naturally evolves into satire.”
