Despite his enthusiasm, McGregor said that he is unsure if he will appear in future installments of the popular franchise. He stated that he has not received any confirmation or indication that he will be involved in any upcoming projects and is patiently waiting for a call from the producers.
Fans of the Star Wars franchise will undoubtedly be excited to hear that McGregor is open to returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi. With his experience and talent, he would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to any future Star Wars projects.
Ewan McGregor, who played the iconic character of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, recently revealed that he had to lie about his involvement in the Obi-Wan series for years. McGregor disclosed this information in a recent interview while promoting his most recent series, A Gentleman in Moscow. He said, “The truth is I’ve talked about having to cover for doing the Obi-Wan season for years, I had to lie about that, and I’m not lying about this now.”
Although McGregor expressed his desire to continue playing the role of Obi-Wan in another series, he confirmed that there has been no official communication from Lucasfilm or Disney regarding the same. He stated, “There’s been no phone call to me from Lucasfilm, or Disney saying, ‘Let’s do another one’. Obi-Wan was made as a limited series and it’s out and people like it, which I’m very, very pleased about.”
Despite this, McGregor remains optimistic about reprising his role as the Jedi Master in the future. He mentioned, “I hope we get a chance to do another one and I’m sure we will. I’m pretty sure, you know, I’ve got a few years yet before I’m the same age as Alec Guinness was in A New Hope. So there’s time to tell more stories in there.”
The six-episode Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, followed the Jedi Master as he emerged from hiding to rescue a young Princess Leia from the Galactic Empire’s Inquisitors. Kenobi then has an encounter with his former apprentice, Darth Vader. The show has been well-received by fans and critics alike, and many are eagerly awaiting news of a potential follow-up series.
