Naomi Watts recently shared at the Toronto International Film Festival that her close friend Nicole Kidman, who plays Liev Schreiber’s wife in the Netflix thriller series, The Perfect Couple, had kindly reached out to her before working with Schreiber. Watts expressed her gratitude, emphasizing their tight-knit friendship and how they always check in with each other. In the series, Kidman and Schreiber portray a wealthy married couple, Greer and Tag Winbury, in a mystery set on Nantucket. The show centers on the disruption of the Winbury family’s wedding celebrations by a shocking event. Watts expressed eagerness to binge-watch the show, as it had received rave reviews and she found the trailer to be fantastic.
Actress Naomi Watts and actor Liev Schreiber started their relationship in 2005 after meeting at the Met Gala. They decided to go their separate ways in 2016 but have maintained a cordial and amicable relationship as they co-parent their two children, Sasha, 17, and Kai, 15.
Watts expressed her pride in their approach, stating, “We’re doing things very differently. I’m pretty proud of us, corny as that may sound. We’ve made it our absolute priority to be good and kind to each other, and we’re absolutely committed to that,” in an interview with Net-a-Porter.
Both Watts and Schreiber found love again, as they each tied the knot with their new partners in 2023. Watts married actor Billy Crudup, known for his role in the show Morning Show, while Schreiber married Taylor Neisen, a former pageant queen with whom he shares a 1-year-old daughter named Hazel Bee.
In 2022, Watts shared a heartwarming Instagram photo showing her, Schreiber, and their children alongside Crudup and Neisen, celebrating Kai’s middle school graduation, with the caption “#modernfamily.”
Interestingly, Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman, both established Australian actresses, met during their teenage years at an audition for a swimsuit commercial. Despite both missing out on the gig, they formed a fast friendship, bonding over their shared interests in movies, common friends, family, schools, parties, and teenage experiences. Watts fondly recalled their initial conversation in her speech at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala honoring Kidman.
Lastly, “The Perfect Couple” is now available for streaming on Netflix.
