Seventeen was awarded the Best Group honor at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards in New York. The category, previously known as Group of the Year, has been dominated by K-pop acts, with BTS winning for four consecutive years, followed by BLACKPINK in 2023. Despite their win, Seventeen did not attend the awards ceremony at UBS Arena. Lisa from BLACKPINK also won, taking home the Best K-pop trophy for her solo track “Rockstar,” marking her second win in the category.
In her acceptance speech, Lisa expressed how special it felt to receive an award for “Rockstar,” which was a personally meaningful comeback for her. Lisa also performed the song “Rockstar” and her new single “New Woman” during the ceremony. Additionally, girl group Le Sserafim won the Push Performance of the Year for their song “Easy,” marking another triumph for K-pop.
This honor recognizes the best artist from those featured in the U.S. music channel’s “MTV Push” campaign, which showcases interviews and other content with a different artist each month. During the ceremony’s preshow, the group presented their new tracks “Crazy” and “1-800-hot-n-fun.”
