The Netflix series “Kaos” drew strong inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s “Romeo + Juliet,” as revealed by Aurora Perrineau, an actress in the show. Perrineau mentioned that the character “Mercutio” had a significant presence on the show’s mood board. It’s interesting to note that it wasn’t until the middle of filming that the creators realized that Harold Perrineau, who is Aurora’s father, had played the role of Mercutio in “Romeo + Juliet.”

Perrineau, known for making Shakespearean language more accessible, shared his approach to performing Shakespeare, emphasizing that he let go of conventional ideas about Shakespearean performances for the unique 1996 adaptation.

In 2020, he stressed the significance of making the characters relatable and understandable to an American audience while keeping the relationships open to interpretation. In “Kaos,” Aurora Perrineau plays the character Riddy, alongside a talented cast that includes Jeff Goldblum, Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, and others.
