Comedian and actor Anthony Anderson recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The latest episode of the show created a lot of buzz as Anderson talked about the link between type 2 diabetes and heart disease. She shared her photo on Instagram where she appeared to have lost weight. The photo sparked concern among netizens, who feared he was sick.
Anthony Anderson has been battling type 2 diabetes for almost 20 years now. To control the situation, he had to make some changes in his life, which made him lose weight, thus explaining his appearance in the picture.
However, the photo also attracted a few people who were happy with his weight, thinking that it was a big challenge for him throughout his life.
In a 2022 interview with Essence, Anderson revealed that his diabetes diagnosis followed his busy work schedule at the height of his career, because he didn’t know what he was eating.
He remembers that he was thirsty one evening and felt a different feeling in his body. To quench his thirst, he drank some water, but immediately wanted to go to the bathroom. After this several times, Anderson visited the doctor the next morning.
A test showed that his blood sugar was almost 240, later he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Anthony said that the same problem affected his father:
“Looking back at the symptoms, that made me realize that I was a diabetic. They were the same symptoms that my father had growing up.”
After the diagnosis, Anderson revealed that he had to make some changes in his daily life because he did not want his family to have to deal with the things he had to do after his father’s death. He was accustomed to living a good life:
“I take time for myself; meditating, and doing yoga. I start my day walking around barefoot grounding myself.”
He even decided to lose weight, but when he was cast in Law & Order, he went to his friend Al Roker who introduced him to a nutritionist. Anderson bought a bicycle and used it to ride among the bushes. This is how he was able to lose about 47 kilograms, explaining his appearance in a recent Instageam photo.
Anderson has partnered with Get Real About Diabetes to raise awareness of the medical condition.
