Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance are collaborating on a new cop drama titled “Keats,” under the production of Bassett Vance Productions. The show is currently in production with NBC and Universal TV, although it has not been picked up as a series yet and appears to be in the pilot stage. Given the involvement of Bassett and Vance, the show is highly anticipated.
Alex Keats is a fourth-generation police officer who makes the difficult decision to leave her career and family behind. Following the passing of her mother, she returns to Philadelphia for the funeral, only to uncover suspicious details surrounding her mother’s supposed suicide. Refusing to accept this explanation, Alex embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind her mother’s untimely demise. Throughout her investigation, Alex comes to the realization that she may have been mistaken in turning her back on everything she once held dear.
The TV landscape has undergone significant changes in recent years, particularly with regards to pilot season. Broadcast networks are no longer solely focused on the upcoming season, with CBS already considering shows for the 2025–2026 season and Fox pushing some shows to the 2024–2025 season instead of bringing them back last season.
Additionally, NBC has ordered “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” and “Suits LA” to series, but their arrival in a specific TV season has not been confirmed. As for “Keats,” while it’s uncertain at this point, there’s a possibility that it could be slated for the 2025–2026 season if it gets picked up.
