Adam Sandler has announced that the production of a sequel to one of his most beloved films is officially underway. The renowned Hollywood star, who signed a lucrative first-look deal with Netflix in 2020, valued at a reported $275 million, has seen success with projects such as “Hustle” and “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” under this partnership. Now, Netflix is set to produce a sequel to an iconic Sandler movie, with the actor reprising his role as Happy Gilmore in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary.
Netflix has confirmed that Kyle Newachek, known for directing Sandler in “Murder Mystery,” will helm the film, which has been co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, with Dennis Dugan, the director of the original film, also involved in the project.
“Happy Gilmore 2 is officially in production,” announced Netflix’s official social media accounts, offering fans a first glimpse of Sandler’s costume for the film. Sandler himself shared the post on Instagram, expressing his enthusiasm with the caption: “It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun.”
