Rebel Wilson is facing a defamation lawsuit from three producers of her upcoming directorial debut, “The Deb,” as per legal documents. The lawsuit was filed by executive producer Vince Holden and producers Amanda Ghost and Gregor Cameron after Wilson posted an Instagram video accusing them of embezzling funds and sabotaging the film. In the video, Wilson alleged that the producers were involved in inappropriate behavior towards the lead actress, as well as embezzling funds from the film’s budget. The lawsuit also includes claims that the trio embezzled 900,000 Australian dollars.
The defamation lawsuit revolves around allegations that Rebel Wilson displayed unprofessional behavior, made threats to expose financiers, and sought cowriting credit and rights to the film’s original music. Eventually, Wilson received an “additional writing by” credit, with the original screenwriter earning the primary credit, which reportedly left Wilson dissatisfied.
The producers’ lawyer accused Wilson of being a bully who prioritized her own interests over others and attempted to force unreasonable demands by leveraging her social media popularity. Wilson, in response, expressed frustration in a video, claiming that the film might not be released due to disagreements with the producers.
