Recently, the film Deadpool & Wolverine reached the impressive milestone of surpassing a billion dollars at the global box office and continues to attract significant attention. Fans have been captivated by the film’s extensive list of cameo appearances, but they have also noticed the absence of certain characters from past Marvel superhero movies. One notable absence is Halle Berry’s portrayal of Ororo Munroe, also known as Storm, who appeared in several X-Men films released by 20th Century Fox. Halle Berry has recently provided an explanation for why her character, Storm, did not appear in Deadpool & Wolverine.
In a recent interview, Halle Berry revealed the reasons behind her absence as Storm in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine. Prior to the film’s release, there was much speculation about Berry reprising her role. In May 2023, she shared a photo of herself with short white hair on X (formerly known as Twitter), which further fueled the speculations as Storm also sports white hair. Consequently, when the movie was finally released, many fans were left disappointed by Berry’s absence.
During the interview, the Oscar-winning actress disclosed that despite serving as co-writer and producer for the film, Ryan Reynolds, who portrays Deadpool, never approached her about the cameo. Interestingly, it was Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, who broached the subject with Berry.
When asked if there were formal conversations about her potential return, Halle Berry stated, “No.” She recounted an encounter with Blake Lively at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, during which Lively inquired whether she would consider appearing in her husband’s movie as Storm. Berry replied, “Yeah, if he asked me,” but unfortunately, Reynolds never did.
In a 2022 interview with the same outlet, Halle Berry expressed her enthusiasm for reprising her roles as Storm, a Marvel character, or even as Catwoman, a DC character from the 2004 film. Berry mentioned that she would eagerly revisit any of these characters, expressing her love for all of them and her gratitude for being a part of such significant franchises.
