- A Morning with Maria Hinojosa at Houston Public Library | Tuesday, October 11 | FREE – The Emmy Award–winning journalist and best-selling author, Maria Hinojosa will be at the Downtown HPL campus to talk about her new book, Once I Was You, and how she grew to be the first Latina to found a national independent nonprofit newsroom in the United States. 10:30am to noon.
- Lil Nas X in Concert at 713 Music Hall | Tuesday, October 11 – Post Houston’s music stage hosts Lil Nas X on his debut concert tour, supporting his Grammy-nominated, chart-topping debut release, Montero. $29.50 and up. 7pm.
- ALDS Games 1 & 2: Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners at Minute Maid Park | Tuesday, October 11 & Thursday, October 13 – Facing the Mariners fresh off an exciting weekend Wild Card series, the Astros kick off a new playoff run, hosting the first two games of the ALDS in Downtown. Tickets are $35 and up, but you may find better, cheaper or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. Times TBD.
- Comedian Joe Pera at White Oak Music Hall | Wednesday, October 12 – The comedian and writer best known for his three-season run of Joe Pera Talks with You on Adult Swim makes a one night–only appearance at White Oak’s downstairs room. $29.50. 7pm.
- In the Salvadorian Kitchen with Chef Evelyn Garcia at Central Market | Thursday, October 13 – Enjoy an evening with Houston chef and Top Chef finalist Evelyn Garcia as she dishes tips and introduces you to beloved meals of El Salvador. $85. 6:30pm to 9pm.
- Thorn & Moon presents Carnivale Spooktacular at Market Square Park | Friday, October 14 | No Cover – Known for their monthly Magickal Market in Northside, Thorn and Moon host a special and spooky pop-up in Downtown, offering tons of witchy wares and local goods to shop while you enjoy performances, circus acts, trick-or-treating, and much more.
